Compensation

MATA occupational accident and disease insurance compensates expenses incurred by an occupational accident or disease due to the required treatment, medications and travel. The insurance also compensates the costs of physiotherapy, medical examinations and loss of income if there is good reason to believe that the injury or ailment is work-related.

Medical expenses

You may receive compensation for the direct costs of treating an occupational accident or disease, including essential treatment, medications and medical supplies. Medical rehabilitation may also be reimbursed as a medical expense.

Compensation for loss of earnings

Compensation for loss of earnings provides security against work disabilities caused by an occupational accident or disease. Compensation for loss of earnings comprises daily allowances, workers’ compensation pensions and rehabilitation allowances.

Compensation for loss of earnings for examination periods

You may receive compensation for loss of earnings for examination periods if your medical examinations re-quire you to be absent from work without income.

Compensation for broken items

You may receive compensation for items that were broken in connection with your occupational accident if they were being used by you at the time of the accident.

Care allowance

If you are in need of external care, assistance, supervision or guidance due to an occupational accident or disease, you may receive a care allowance.

Compensation for essential home care expenses

You may receive compensation for essential home care expenses if you are unable to perform domestic work due to an occupational accident or disease and must pay for home care services.

Clothing allowance

If your clothing is subject to long-term wear due to the use of rehabilitation equipment or prosthesis as a result of an occupational accident or disease, you may receive a clothing allowance.

Compensation for functional limitation

Compensation for functional limitation is paid in the case of a permanent general functional limitation caused by an occupational accident or disease.

Rehabilitation compensation

You may receive rehabilitation compensation for occupational rehabilitation, mobility equipment and adjustment training necessitated by your occupational injury or disease.

Family pension and funeral assistance

If an occupational accident or disease results in death, a family pension may be paid to the surviving spouse or children. Funeral assistance may also be paid to the person organising the funeral.
