What does my MYEL insurance cover?
If your grant or scholarship fulfils the insurance conditions, Mela will issue insurance that provides you with broad cover for your grant or scholarship work.

MYEL pension insurance
MYEL pension insurance for grant and scholarship recipients is accrued in accordance with the Farmers’ Pension Act (MYEL).
As an insured grant or scholarship recipient, you are entitled to old-age pension, partial old-age pension, vocational rehabilitation and disability pension in accordance with the Farmers’ Pension Act. The insurance also entitles your family members to family pension and group life insurance compensation.
MATA occupational accident and disease insurance
MYEL pension insurance automatically includes MATA occupational accident and disease insurance for the same period, which covers against accidental injuries caused by a sudden and unforeseen event during grant work. Group life insurance
MYEL pension insurance also automatically includes group life insurance. In case of the death of the grant or scholarship recipient, his or her beneficiaries are entitled to group life insurance compensation. The terms and conditions of the group life insurance are set by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health and are in line with those for employees’ group life insurance.
Leisure-time MATA non-occupational accident and disease insurance
You can complement your compulsory MATA occupational accident and disease insurance with voluntary leisure-time MATA non-occupational accident and disease insurance. Leisure-time MATA non-occupational accident and disease insurance is available only in connection with a valid MATA occupational accident and disease insurance policy.
Mela sickness allowance
