Act on behalf on another person

In Mela’s e-Service, you can handle matters on behalf of another person.

You need a Finnish personal identity code to use Mela’s e-Services on behalf of another person.

To submit a mandate request and obtain authorisation to act on behalf of another person in e-services, you must have:

  • Finnish personal identity code
  • Finnish means of electronic identification, such as online banking credentials, a mobile certificate, a certificate card or eIDAS identification

You can handle MYEL and MATA benefit matters, as well as MYEL and MATA insurance matters, on behalf of another person.

The MYEL insurance is a pension insurance. The MATA insurance is Mela’s occupational accident and occupational disease insurance.

Acting on behalf of a minor

If you are the guardian of a child under the age of 18, you do not need a separate Suomi.fi authorisation.

Acting on behalf of an adult

If you are acting on behalf of an adult, you will need a Suomi.fi authorisation. You can request authorisation from the person you want to represent. Alternatively, the person can authorise you to act on their behalf.

There are two types of authorisations for acting on behalf of an adult:

  • Handling MYEL and MATA benefit matters
  • Handling MYEL and MATA insurance matters

The authorisation may be granted only for the handling of benefit or insurance matters or for both.

However, these authorisations do not allow you to deal with matters relating to insurance premiums or the recovery of benefits on behalf of another person.

Go to Suomi.fi Authorisations.
